InFUNity Fulfillment Complete, New Kickstarter!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, May 23, 2024 at 04:09:15 PM

We've now shipped out every InFUNity TIles order we can -- the only ones left are folks who haven't yet filled in their Backerkit surveys. (If that includes you, please send that in at your earliest convenience!) And by now, everyone should have received those rewards. Yay!

Web Store LIVE NOW

Our web page selling InFUNity Tiles is now up on the Atlas Games website, at https://atlas-games.com/infunity. More variations will be added soon, including packs of Mini Hats and Mini Turtles in a range of colors (black, white, red, green, blue, yellow, orange, purple), when we receive the balance of our production run. For now, we're only listing the items that we have on hand for immediate delivery. But that's enough that you can send interested friends and family our way now, so please share that link!

Retail Release Coming Soon

We're holding off on a full retail release while we work on developing a packaging solution for retail display. This will likely be a white cardboard "mailer" box (like ones used for CCG storage) inside a custom-printed sleeve. We're also designing an activity booklet to go inside, to explain the aperiodic monotile and provide some examples of using InFUNity Tiles. If you have suggestions for what you'd like to see in the booklet, let us know in the comments!

Donated Sets

We're in the process of giving away your donated sets now. Kids and teachers are loving them! Last weekend, we were at Duluth's Depot STEAM Festival, and we had two big tables filled with the large tiles (which we're now branding as Jumbo) and another with Minis, and they were practically catnip for the kids! Read more about it on our blog.

Catstronauts is LIVE on Kickstarter!

Speaking of catnip, now is when we plug our newest Kickstarter …

The NEW CatStronauts Kickstarter is LIVE RIGHT MEOW!

Based on the hit graphic novel series, CatStronauts features cosmically cute art, cooperative game play, and a kid-friendly STEAM experience … much like InFUNity Tiles!

Check out the CatStronauts Kickstarter campaign NOW, then remember to share the link with all your science-loving friends and family!

Earth Week Update
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Apr 25, 2024 at 12:11:14 PM

Happy Earth Week! I wanted to tell you a little about our Earth Week activities, and also update on the status of InFUNity Tiles fulfillment.

Status Update

First, a status update: More than 90% of rewards have been shipped. The ones that remain either need specific colors of large Hat tiles, or need large Turtle tiles. After overcoming some delays, the large Turtles will be made this weekend and sent to us (along with the aforementioned large hats). I should be able to ship the remaining pledges before the end of next week. Thanks for your patience!

Many backers generously funded gift copies for schools, libraries, museums, etc.; and some of these have been given already, but we have many more to go. We've polled donor-backers for suggestions, but we're looking for more! Please  message or comment below with donation suggestions!

EcoFest & Green Jobs Fair

This wound up being a very busy Earth Week for Replay Workshop! It started with the Duluth EcoFest and Green Jobs Fair at the Clyde Iron Works event center last Saturday. I had a booth to show off and sell a variety of our recycled items, including InFUNity tiles, clipboards, mallets, vases, and a little side table I made from a sheet of recycled plastic atop reclaimed pallet wood. At the same time, our Replay Workshop manager Shane was up in Hermantown at a Girl Scouts event, teaching the scouts about recycling and demonstrating our benchtop injection molder, making eight-sided dice.

Earth Week School Presentations

Tuesday morning I was invited to the Holy Rosary campus of Stella Maris Academy, where I did presentations and molding demonstrations to a preschool class and a class of 3rd graders. The kids were very interested and engaged! The preschoolers loved the large InFUNity Tiles (I left a set with them). There were lots of "more of a comment than a question" interactions (my favorite was "my uncle has a truck with a plow on the front"). And the third graders had such lively discussion and questions that we barely used the molder!  It's always inspiring to see the enthusiasm kids have for saving our world.

Today I'll do another demonstration for the elementary students of Montessori School of Duluth. It's bright and sunny this morning, so I hope we can do it outside!

Sustainability Pub Crawl

This evening we'll be featured in the Sustainability Pub Crawl in Duluth's Lincoln Park business district. Shane and I will have a table outside Bent Paddle's taproom from 5 to 8 PM; we'll be running the little injection molder, showing examples of things we've made, and talking about plastic recycling with everyone we can.  We'll have the "local pickup" InFUNity Tiles with us to hand deliver to their recipients, and encourage any area locals to stop by and visit with us! Heck, if you're in town, bring a bunch of odd plastics and we'll tell you if we can recycle them, and maybe turn them into dice or keychains on the spot.

WLSSD Block Party

Finally, Friday morning the demonstrations continue, this time at the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District Block Party. Part of this event includes the WLSSD's big annual collection of medications and sharps, for folks who are cleaning their drawers of those expired and unfinished prescriptions. The Household Hazardous Waste experts will properly dispose of the medicine, and will be giving us all of the empty bottles and vials for recycling.

Long story short, things are going exceptionally well for Replay Workshop! We're happy to have almost finished fulfillment of InFUNity Tiles, and are so proud to have such enthusiastic engagement and support from our local and online communities!

Thanks again!

InFUNity Shipping Begins!
about 2 years ago – Tue, Mar 12, 2024 at 03:08:40 PM

GAMA Expo

We've been busy! We managed to produce a first run of InFUNity tiles just before we went to the GAMA Expo in Louisville, KY last weekend. That meant we had tiles to show and share with retailers and game designers! We picked up a lot of valuable feedback about packaging from retailers, in particular, which is going to change the plans we had in that department.

Clipping the Gates

A big change is that we've decided we need to clip the "gates" and supply the Minis as ready-to-use straight out of the bag, instead of attached to a central sprue. Retailers thought having the tiles attached risked confusion about clipping off the waste portion from the manufacturing process. Removing them in advance makes InFUNity a "pour and play" experience, plus we can recycle the sprues without even sending them out into the world (where they would almost certainly end up in the trash).

Fulfilling NOW!

That first run of InFUNity tiles means we're ready to start fulfilling Kickstarter rewards this week! Surveys are locked, addresses are locked, and we're good to go. But please be patient if it takes a few weeks to get everything out the door … we're still running large Turtles and more Mini Hats.

We also have some great news! Besides revising the Mini Hat core to move ejection pins off the surface of the tiles, Tim and Jason at Updog produced a mold for Mini Turtles, at just the right size to connect with our Mini Hats.

If your rewards include a set of large Hats, you may receive one or more Mini Turtles as a bonus. For those receiving the Cafe Blend Minis set, the bonus 24 tiles we're sending you will include some or all Mini Turtles. Enjoy!
