How will backing this campaign make my life more wonderful?

InFUNity Tiles is a fun activity that also diverts plastic from the waste stream. If we make enough of them, it will help make the whole planet more wonderful!

I’m a retailer. How do I complete my order? What are your retail terms?

At the end of the campaign we’ll contact you to customize your pledge. If you’d like to do it sooner, please contact [email protected] and we’ll be happy to get you everything you need at your 50% retailer discount. More details and terms are at atlas-games.com/retailer

"Einstein" ... like Albert?

Nope. “Ein stein” means “one stone” — a single tile. It has no relationship at all to the famous scientist or his theories of physics. But both are pretty excellent.

If the Hat is public domain, why don't I just make my own?

You’re welcome to! Vendors on Etsy already offer a variety of 3D printed and laser cut tiles in various sizes. We want to produce them in quantity, and in a larger size with higher-quality plastic, because they feel better to handle and having a bunch of them makes them more interesting. Injection molding means a large upfront investment in tooling, but lower cost and faster production beyond that. And, we know we can do it with recycled plastics!

Recycled? Really? How much recycled content do they actually have?

We know we can mass produce this product with recycled content, because we’ve done it before — see our recycled Dice Miner Deluxe Plastic Mountain. For most of this production run, we plan to blend 100% recycled natural plastic pellets with up to 2% of colorant to achieve consistent opaque coloring and a uniform product for safety testing.

Once we have a mold running on the injection press, we’ll also have some fun experimenting with other materials, including plastics we’ve collected and shredded ourselves, and whatever color and special effects additives we find to experiment with. These odd and experimental tiles can be purchased as Add-Ons in Mystery Set assortments of 10 tiles.

Why are the tiles so big?

One reason is because we CAN make them this big! 3D printing at this size is tedious, especially if done with solid infill. But an injection mold press can churn out a lot of them with great consistency and, coincidentally, divert a lot of plastic waste into recycled product. This size is satisfyingly chonky in our hands, and they don’t skitter across the table like 3D printed tiles tend to. But if someone wants to experiment with a whole bunch tiles, or if they enjoy a more solid size and heft, it’s an annoying proposition for most people to print the tiles themselves.

We also want people to experiment with this large size. You can use them singly as coasters, for example. Maybe people will be interested in custom coasters for a brewpub or game café, which double as puzzle/game tiles? Tiles could be plastic-welded together to make a tabletop, countertop, or maybe even flooring. With a mold, we can also do future experiments with different plastics attached with adhesives.

Finally, we’re game publishers, and we think this size is most amenable to board game prototyping and development. So, yeah … we want them this big to play with ourselves!

Is there a game in here?

As game publishers, we think these tiles have great potential as a design element. A basic game emerges from the shape itself — the challenge of arranging the tiles to cover a surface without gaps, or to tile an area with the most compact arrangement possible.

Each Hat can be broken into segments called “kites” which in turn can be viewed as patterns of hexagons, which of course are a favorite shape in tabletop games. We have ideas about using this as the basis for resource management or areas of control with an endlessly variable playing board.

We’d love to talk about game ideas during the campaign, and we also want to inspire other game designers to explore the use of this shape!

Where did you get that excellent music for your video?

It’s appropriately called “Happy Kids,” and we discovered it on Pixabay.com, the community of creators sharing royalty-free media. Visit Ukrainian creator Oleg Kirilkov as Music_For_Videos at https://pixabay.com/users/music_for_videos-26992513

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
